Formation of Regs
The formation of regs take a relatively long time. What happens is, in the desert, the wind and the rain blow and wash away the smaller fragments, including sand, dust and other fine grained materials, leaving the larger fragments behind. This process does not take place infinitively, because by the time a reg has formed, it acts as a preventive measure for future erosion.
