Supermen and Superwomen!
Yes! There are humans that can survive in the desert permanently. Most of the people that live in the desert do not live in cities like you and I. People who live in these deserts are usually nomads. (SAT WORD - nomads are literally "hobos".) They move from region to region through the sweltering desert. Because of this, there are many languages that are spoken in the Sahara Desert and there are many different nationalities. Arabic is most widely spoken. A good way to think about this is to picture China. China is a huge country so in every state, locals speak a different dialect, however, mandarin is most widely spoken.
Their main way of transport is by camel caravan. Even so, journey on a camel caravan is slow and dangerous. There are so many dangers in travelling by camels, for example, being lost, excessive heat, sand storms or death by starvation. However, camels are absolutely ideal for long distances because of their small need for water.
They survive mainly by avoiding direct sunlight. This is how a turban became known, for them to survive, they wrap a piece of cloth around their heads to prevent direct sunlight. They developed a skill in extracting every drop of water from a plant. They also changed habits; they minimise physical activity during the day and hunt and work when the sun is down to conserve energy.
